1. Does your painter carry any insurance?

At the bare minimum, a basic liability plan should be sufficient. Having insurance is important,      especially if your house painting job involves some exterior work that will require the use of ladders.

2. Does your painter have a list of references to show you?

Professional painters work hard to accumulate a list of customer references. A serious painter knows the importance of building customer trust in order to land future jobs through referrals.  If the painter can’t supply names and phone numbers from previous customers, then it’s best to move on.

3. Is there a website that you can visit? Are there before and after photos that you can view?

A serious painter should have a website that has before and after photos of previous jobs that they have worked on.  The exception here is for newer companies that may have not completed enough jobs to accumulate a photo library. However, they should at least show some references from their most recent jobs.
